Philip Merrill College of Journalism

About

Each semester, students in the college’s Urban Affairs Reporting classes (JOUR327 and JOUR627) use Baltimore as a laboratory to cover issues of importance to Maryland. The class is taught by Sandra Banisky, Merrill’s Abell Professor in Baltimore Journalism, a former deputy managing editor of The Baltimore Sun. For the Spring 2011 semester, students focused on the juvenile justice system in Baltimore.

Spring 2011 reporters: Jeffrey Benzing, Andrew Damstedt, Ashley M. Latta, Alison Kitchens, Alexandra Wilding and Stephanie Weaver.

The program is supported in part by the Abell Foundation. The Baltimore Sun provided classroom space and research materials. View work from previous semesters here.
